Today I had my students write thank you notes to all of the teachers on staff, male and female, who have served or continue to serve our country. The students spent well over a hour constructing their notes, pre-writing them, having others critique them, and then committed the missives to thank you notes. They delivered them to the teachers and shook their hands individually and said thank you. It was good for them to do. They talked about the experience all day.
Wonderful idea, Claire. Young people really do appreciate veterans; however, in the past few generations, we have failed to inculcate that love and appreciation on a deep level. We need to bring it back. Good work, my friend and fellow educator.
