My Future Authors, Carter & Ammon

Welcome to Haven’s Ideals. My name is Haven Caylor-Brown, and I am proud that God has blessed me to be a husband and a father.  Like the Apostle Paul says in the New Testament from Ephesians 2 verses 8 & 9, what I am proud of (being a father to Ammon and Carter and a having an awesome spouse) is nothing I can boast about…it is by the grace of God.

My career passion is teaching Spanish especially Spanish for Native Speakers. However, I have a literary passion that I have been nurturing for over ten years. When I started writing several years ago, an editor for an international magazine commented that she liked the way I write because it is a “slice of life”. I love to weave nostalgia, family, pets, parenting, spirituality, and travel intricately together.

2024-2025 finds me with teaching Spanish courses. I am excited to be using Aquisition Driven Instruction / Comprehensible Input, instructional technology, curriculum mapping, and possibly writing grants for our World Language Department.

I have been writing (travel, parenting, and children’s literature) for over 15 years. Ammon, Carter, and I published  Christmas Hawk. We also have a great parenting book entitled Parenting Strategies on the Go:Diverse Teaching Strategies for Parents Who Want Their Children to Learn No Matter Where or When

  1. Haven, I read your blog about Fr. Gordon and Suzanne. You wrote so beautifully and so truthfully about them that I hope they get to read it. I’m going to try to pass it on to my family and friends so they can be as inspired as I was. Last Sunday’s sermon was one of his best and I hope I never forget to “honk” words of comfort and encouragement to those I follow. You are such an asset to our church and to my life!

    • Cheryl, Fr.Gordon and Suzanne did, indeed, get to read the blog, and they seemed to be touched. I was honored by their words. I am honored by your words as well, and I hope and pray that God will use me to my fullest potential at St. Martin’s and in your life. Love, Haven

  2. Thank you so much for sharing your blog with me. I love it! And I love seeing how the children have grown. They are so beautiful. I can tell they are very, very bright too. And it’s obvious that they have two extraordinary and loving parents. Keep the posts coming! – joanna

    • Thank you, Claire. I’ve been receiving some very encouraging words from published authors since the beginning of 2013, and they think I have talent and the will to get those books published. Prayers are needed!
