Happy Birthday, Ammon

How time flies, and what a blessing Ammon has been. Heart melting moment(s). Ammon has a new, wonderful habit of saying, “I love you.” at different times and places.

Once again the kitchen is the setting (all you parental care-givers understand how much TIME  is spent in the kitchen): Haven cleaning surfaces when Ammon bounces into the kitchen from the living room. The sink is open to the rest of the kitchen-eating area with no back drop, so Ammon and Carter can peer above the counter and see me working at the stove or wherever.

“Daddy?! (an interrogative exclamation), “Yes, Ammon?” . “Daddy, I just wanted to say…, ‘I love you.’  “Thank you, sweetheart. I love you too.” : just like her brother, she melted my heart. Happy Birthday, Ammon. We love you.

Happy Birthday, Carter!

How time flies, and what a blessing Carter has been. Just Tuesday morning (10-30-2012), Carter woke up called from his and Ammon’s dark bedroom, “Daddy?!” Often times if Carter doesn’t wake up feeling too rested and “cranky” he yells for me, so with a bit of concern in my voice I answered back to him from the kitchen, “Yes, son?” He then called back, “I love you!” ….yet another heart-melting moment from my son.

Our 4 year old Boy!

God, Thank you for Carter, and, Carter, may your 4th year be a blessed one.

Carter & Ammon: back to Coonhound basics

I really want Ammon & Carter to enjoy the night woods with me. It will be hard for me to go alone w/o them, but I will not be gone for long either with them or w/o them. I’ve gotten out of the night tracking since Carter and Ammon came almost 4 years ago, and I’m looking forward to being in the woods for myself and for my hounds. Here are the hounds on Friday morning (10-19-2012). It was cool, crisp, and just “hankering” for a frost ( I could tell, but it was only 42 degrees here).

A continued, Happy Autumn everyone (Bless your hearts…Aussies and Kiwis, A continued Happy Spring to you! LOL)

Mama Katie

Sissy is okay…LOL…….she was bending down to roll.

Carter & Ammon Earn $$

“Almost” 4 year olds with their EARNED gifts (Look closely for Ammon’s blond braid)

Ammon and Carter have started earning some “spending money”/allowance. They are picking up toys and putting them into their toy boxes, folding clothes, putting up clothes in their armoires, picking up garbage, helping feed dogs, making their beds, etc.

I know this isn’t much, put they are getting about $1/week (in quarters). Last week they earned enough money to go to our local Dollar Tree and buy something for themselves. However, before they did, they had to give 25 cents to church. With the remaining $1.25, they chose their presents. Carter chose a crawling soldier, and Ammon chose a hair piece to wear. We are saving their change and future allowances for continued giving to themselves and back to OTHERS.

Please pray that they keep a good work, saving, and GIVING ethic. So far, we’re off to a good start.

Burt’s Pumpkin Farm

I guess the first time I went to Burt’s was like 1992ish? My niece, Jennifer was about 11 years old. Mamaw, Nana, Sean, Carter, Ammon, & I went on Wednesday October 10, 2012, and we had a great time.

I think the best part was the hay ride (it smelled sooooooooooo good!!). We were a bit early, and we had a “private tour”. Ammon & Carter are almost 4 years old, so I think that with their memories, pictures, and blogs (LOL), they will remember this trip for years to come. After the hayride, Carter and Ammon helped pick out our pumpkins to make jack-o-laterns. Great Place that Burt’s!

Carter & Ammon sing “Jesus Loves Me”

Carter and Ammon sang “Jesus Loves Me” today at church. It was awesome. All the children did great. I hope you all enjoy it, and I hope you all have a blessed upcoming week. Special thanks to Mrs. Bev and Mr. Neal!

Autumn 2012

Fixing on Jesus

Our Autumn Mantel is set. I couldn’t help but think of Dantes Paradiso XXIII 43-45

Then her eyes turned to the eternal Light

Into whose depth we may believe the eyes

45 Of no other creature penetrates more clearly.

When there are angelic figures or human figures on our mantel, I try to position them where their eyes are fixed on the Eternal Light, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Happy Autumn Everyone, and God bless you all.

Cousin Linda/Daddy’s Birthday

Daddy’s Birthday

Once again, thanks to Facebook, I’ve been able to meet a family member and do some good chatting…both online and phone. My 2nd cousin’s name is Linda Kirk. She is 8 years younger than my father, but she spent A LOT of time with Daddy, Nanny, & Granddaddy.

It’s such a treat to hear her perspective of Varnell, Georgia during the 1950s with my father. My father had a wonderful (no, nothing is ever perfect as we all know) childhood with Linda, her mother, Madeline, her father, Charles, and Linda’s brother, David. As has been told by Nanny Caylor and Linda, there was hardly a weekend that went by (for years and years mind you)  when the Caylors and the Kirks were not together.

Well, today is Daddy’s birthday (he would have been 73), and I know that Linda is like me and filled with wonderful memories of a wonderful man, my father. However, I’m envious of her because she got to know him as her “big brother” cousin who knew each other as human beings so to speak. Knowing my father as a human being was something I only got to know for a little while, and it was still that “friendship/father” relationship.  Linda and I each have our own set of blessings that came from knowing Oliver Haven Caylor….cousin to her…father to me. Happy birthday, Daddy!

Daddy would be 73 today!!
